Hello!
I’ve been around the site for a couple of weeks...I recently began attempting to create a multi touch setup - right now I just have a MTmini - somewhat functional. My multi touch blog: MyMultiTouch. In the future, I plan to build a larger-scale FTIR table, and code applications for it. I have gathered a good bit of information on the hardware aspect of things, but I’m not sure where to start with software-C++, ActionScript/Flash, Java...? Can someone tell me where I should start with programming for multi touch? Thx for everyone’s help and support on the IRC forums!

Hello all,

I have been fascinated with multi touch since I first read about the reactable. After reading more about the technology I realized that i could make a table my self and get ambient feedback using Arkaos VJ software. The table was built using DI a 500k compact flouresent with wrattn 87 filter and a unibrain camera with a wraten 87 filter over the wide angle lens.

I’m a project manager for a Acme Scenic and Display in Portland OR. I don’t know anything about programing really I’m trying to figure out openframeworks and touchlib on my free time. A coworker and I made it into a the fix furniture show at PSU with our table design, see attachment. The table will be built and on display September 30th in Portland. I want to make this table using the FTIR technique.

If I don’t figure out how to make my own application by the time the table displays. I would love to use something developed in this community.

I’m still making FTIR table and I try to handle it with actionscript3. Also I’m interested in Arduino and XBee.

Hi guys,

I have been following the progress here for some time now and am lovin’ it.

Me and a group of people here are working on a touch surface here and as soon as we are done with the hardware bits and pieces, we’ll jump right on to writing some new software for the surface.

We have a few Ideas right now for applications which I am documenting and I hope that everyone will benefit and build it up once its there.

We are going with the FTIR solution and as of now, we have the frame of our table built. I’ll post pictures up as soon as I take some decent shots.

I sincerely believe that this is the next wave in human-computer interaction and am proud to be a part of this revolution.

We also hold a small online depot to support the studio, I’ll add some IR related gadgets really soon. Please share your suggestions, thank you!

bobomb here, hailing from the eastern coast of south Florida, USA. After seeing the first multitouch video’s from Jeff Han’s work I was inspired to create my own but didn’t know how. Anyways time passed and then I started seeing PLOG’s of people making thier own and decided to give it a try myself.

The only other DIY project I have done so far is building a projector out of a 15” lcd panel (Lumenlabs).

I am keeping a project log on my setup here: http://bobombstouchtable.blogspot.com/

I am using the FTIR method with an 18x24” sheet of plexi, 16 Osram FSH485’s on each top and bottom rail, wired into a 4x8 array.
My first camera was a microsoft lifecam vx-5000, I’d advise anyone looking into webcams to avoid that one since the IR block filter is glued directly above the CMOS sensor, which I damaged while trying to remove.

And thats that!
