Help with screen design for an LLP setup.

I need help figuring out which type of screen or material to use for an llp setup. The budget for the screen itself is about 2,000 so price is not a huge concern. However I would like it to at least be 1/2 inches thick as I plan to build it a 48” by 85” or a 16 by 9 design. Also I have already seen how to mount the lasers. Just waht type of material should I use?
I was thinking either:
1. a combination acrlyic/rosco
2. a sheet of 1/2 acrylic and then a sheet of 1/8 that is the white/opaque acrylic to act as a projection surface.
3. a sheet of the enlighten acrylic
4. whatever someone else is using that is better than my dull ideas

Any Nebraskan MT builders out there?

Just purely out of curiousity I was wondering if anyone is based in Nebraska and working on or interesting in MT tech. I’m a Computer Science student at the University of Nebraska-Kearney and am nearly done finishing up my own ~42” DSI MT table though I am doing it completely by myself; it would be great to find a collaborator or fellow researcher out there to meet up with and talk tech.

Bulge from projector

Hi,
This is my first multitouch using DI. I ave mounted te projector and relaised tat te bulb from te projector is going to cause problems wit the screen area using te mirrors. Did anyone find a solution to the bulge from the projector as I dont want to waste screen area. My box is also small ..

at the CEBIT i saw several new 3D projectors with 720p resolution for less than 1000$… is it somehow possible to use the 3D effect ?

Turn Laptop into LLP Surface for existing table

Hey all,

I was coming up with an idea for building a multi-touch surface into an existing table. I was planning on taking a laptop that I had, and flipping it back on itself. What I mean by that is to detach the screen from the base just enough so that the screen could fold over and lay flat against the base of the laptop. I plan on using LLP for this project, but did not know if anyone had any ideas about how to capture the blobs from this type of set or if it was even possible. I plan on placing a piece of acrylic over the existing screen with the lasers mounted on top of the acrylic. The problem is i’m not sure where I can place the camera to detect any blobs. I can’t put it behind the lcd for obvious reasons, and putting it in front of the lcd would not have the whole environment built directly into the table. If anyone has any suggestions for a way to mount the camera and get detectable blobs, or a way to improve this idea, i’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Looking for face recognition

Well i know this not the forum specialty but i’m looking for face recognition source code i wanna mix it up with a media library.
the idea is to make a user profile that on locks as soon as the user show his face to the camera and loads his favorite videos/shows/moives for a home midea center PC kinda like “project natal” but less advanced.
i need a source code because i wanna learn i wanna read it compile it and learn from it and change few stuff in there and maybe in the end i merge it with my new MT design some how.
and finally make it my collage project hope fully i get good grade in it “finger crossed”
if you guys know any forum or blogs with wiki or how to it will be very helpful

problem with CCV+PS3 on mac

Hi,
Although this is my first post to the community but I am taking a lot of help from previous threads and topics on the forum.I have building up my own multi-touch table and now when I am at the last stage of the project, I am not able to run CCV properly on my mac system.
I have a PS3 cam connected to my mac book laptop which is also get recognized in Macam driver and then, when I opened up CCV it is always taking inbuilt cam as default and moreover there is no option to change it to PS3. I have tried to change the config file as well as given on the forum but it is not helping.I then tried to move to ‘camera settings’ in CCV but in that as well, there was nothing useful there....

i hope if somebody can help me in this, I will be able to figure it out..
