tbeta and Quartz Composer

Was just doing some experimenting with Quartz Composer and am having problems with the TUIO between it and tbeta. Everything is great when I use the cursor output of the TUIO patch with the TUIO simulator but I can’t seem to get anything when I switch to my actual table. There’s probably something I’m missing here because I would’ve assumed that where the data is coming from is irrelevant as long as everything’s pointed at the same port. I’ve only seen Quartz mentioned with BBTouch so maybe that has something to do with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Max/MSP Blob Tracking Patch

UPDATED 03/13/2008

Latest revision: blobtrack_rev2.zip (attached below). Background subtraction, outputs via OSC, and now includes an OSC receive / unpack patch.
Dependencies: OpenSoundControl object (follow link & scroll down), and the cv.jit package.

It’s working nicely - let me know how you make out! If you don’t have any sort of screen set up, the first revision (blobtrack.zip) contains a test movie.

Hi,

I use a Mac and can’t run Touchlib or OpenTouch, so I’ve written a basic blob tracker in Max/MSP. The patch spits out X-Y coordinates and area for each blob. I’ve included it here w/ test movie - suggestions/improvements are welcome. Please note that this patch depends on the cv.jit externals by Jean-Marc Pelletier, so download and install them before using.

hi there.
Here’s a little patch to test a way to play with javascript in QC.
start with 2 blobs to scale the teapot then rotate it with one blob
If someone clever than me know how to make it more fun…

I’ve been devoting a lot of time to quartz composer lately, it’s a good fit for me and it’s easy to get started. If you are just diving into it, I found these excellent video tutorials on vimeo that get you around the basics of it:

The Cube and some basics: http://vimeo.com/431188

I’ve been having a lot of fun with quartz composer this weekend, but I keep coming back to the same problem.

How would you make an image move around only when you touch it, but not when you touch outside of the area?

starting with PGR Firefly MV & vvvv

Hi,
I’m getting started with a PGR Firefly MV camera and vvvv. The camera connects from windows with the FlyCapture software from PGR, but with the Firefly MV the vvvv patches that work with my webcam won’t run properly. The error message I receive is “TMIOEnumComponent, division by zero”. Could you please guide me towards some information about how to receive input from PGR Firefly MV with vvvv?

Thank you & best wishes

Quick and dirty smoke like app with Quartz Composer and BBTouch or TUIOSimulator

I’ve been trying to learn Quartz Composer and thought this tutorial might help someone else who is just starting out.

http://wiki.nuigroup.com/HOWTO:_Smoke-like_demo_with_Quartz_Composer_and_TUIO

I’ve attached a project. You need the TUIO patch for quartz composer. If you have some thoughts on how to improve it, please let me know!

tuio + quartz composer - xpos and ypos absolute

How can I adjust the data coming from the tuio patch to make the coordinates absolute?

If you try the TuioDemoSingleTouchCursor.qtz that comes with the source for TUIO, the dragging a touch to the right and left doesn’t use the whole comp window, and up and down are inverted.

I’d like to tell the comp, touch down at (320, 178), if there is no teapot, then the teapot doesn’t move. If it is there, than follow the touch without it being inverted.

Or, I’d like the teapot to only be enabled by a touch down, then it appears at the same coordinates that I made the touch down. To enable it, I send s_id to enable, but it doesn’t go where the touch occurred.

Multitouch with Lily - A Free and Open Source Javscript / Mozilla Visual Language

Hi there, newies! Usually I mess with Python, but I’ve been having WAY TOO MUCH FUN making multitouch applications using The Lily Application Framework.

So, here’s a library to make this really really easy to work with:

lily2dcur
<a href="a href="http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur"http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur/a">http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur

This is a set of externals (*.js), some help patches (*.json) and one demo application (lily2dcurDemo.json w/ history.pde)

So, for you Processing.JS fans, here’s your chance to make multitouch applications in the web browser and save them as a executable XUL Runner applications, Firefox add-ons, or simply develop and run these applications all from within Firefox itself.

Wiring it up is simple, so here are screenshots of the help patches (serve also as documentation and basic examples of programs):

And here is the end result using a basic Processing.js file:

remember to install the lily firefox add-on from:
<a href="a href="http://www.lilyapp.org/"http://www.lilyapp.org//a">http://www.lilyapp.org/

and then download and install this new code from here:
<a href="a href="http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur"http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur/a">http://code.google.com/p/2dcur/source/browse/#svn/trunk/lily2dcur

Have fun! Any comments greatly appreciated.
