Using the SurfaceToTUIO part of squidy-lib to get TUIO apps working on MS Surface

We have an application which we test on our own CCV based table which needs to run on a customer MS Surface unit.

As mentioned in a previous post there should be a method of getting TUIO apps to work on MS Surface. This enables apps developed for CCV based equipment to work in an MS Surface environment and gives the advantage to TUIO using developers as there is another platform they can use.

The way this should work is to make use of a part of the squidy-lib library (see squidy-lib.de) called SurfaceToTUIO to get Surface events converted into TUIO ones. However in practice although the SurfaceToTUIO C# code is available and compiles in VS2008 it does not appear to be processing Surface messages. In the Surface simulator it appears to continuously process the one event - on the surface table it does not appear to respond to events at all.

Therefore I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this and what was the outcome. I hope to track the errors down and post the results on this forum.

Although strictly speaking this should go on the squidy-lib forum there has not been a single read of my post on there so this certainly seems to be the more active community!

Hello, I have an old elo touchscreen monitor that connects through the serial port. I have been trying to diagnose what is wrong with it using the comdump program from the elo support website. It is a simple program run from the command prompt that dumps the data from the serial port. As far as I’ve figured out the touch controller is not receiving data but it is sending. Below is a screenshot of comdump after touch the bottom right corner. Could anyone offer advice on how to translate these bytes into tuio? Or atleast where to get information about the coordinates this elo screen is putting out so I might try to write a small c++ program to translate from comdump to mouse movement.

For Dell XT AND HP TX2, windows 7 and n trig beta multitouch drivers, I made a small applet to translate windows TOUCH events to TUIO, enabling all those nice flash etc multitouch applications to run on current multitouch PC/tablets.
EDIT 26 JAN: Slightly improved version, cf post on page 3.
EDIT 4 FEB: small update, now the Q key quits, and Esc key hides the application correctly.
EDIT 14 FEB: it also runs on HP TX2 (probably requires some more work to calibrate. cf http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewreply/27497/
EDIT 21 JULY: posted a beta that supports calibration, now under development(cf http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewreply/39661/ )
Attached is a preliminary version of the W2TUIO application (made in c#, .Net). Approximately 50 downloads were registered until now (keeps clearing when I update the document)

INSTALLATION
Simple: by extracting the zip archive. (EDIT: Now only 1 executable.)
Make sure to have some MT client applications that run with TUIO. I will attach a zip archive of the standard flash demos+ FLOSC app. in one subsequent post. EDIT: could not upload the files, please find them the “DemosFlash Demos” folder of http://nuispace.com/ss/MTmini%20package%20v1.zip

RUN
0. when running flash MT apps: first start the FLOSC application. (EDIT: in the folder “Touchlib_Tracking_Softwareflosc” in the zip file mentioned above)
1. run your favorite MT application - it should NOT run in fullscreen, but maximize instead.
2. go to the W2TUIO folder and double click the application W2TUIO
3. PLAY!
4. quit (keypress “q” or use popup menu on tray icon)

KNOWN BUG: on exit, the mouse cursor is sometimes lost:

Currently the application is calibrated for a Dell XT, taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Soon, I will work on multiple options/hands-on calbiration.

Small Query

I have a sample code ( written in Actionscript 2.0 ) that works very well in TUIOsimulator. But when I try the same code with CCV, I am not able to sense Single touch input ( I am able to sense multi-touch input ). I am only trying to detect single touch events that are transmitted by CCV, as of now.. I wish to know the message format difference between TUIO Simulator and CCV with respect to SIngle finger input..

I also wish to know about the new message format used in CCV 1.3 .. Any answer or direction is deeply appreciated

can anybody tell me were to find the specifications of the new binary protocol is used by ccv 1.3?
Also it seems, that there is a new tuio protocol used??? I receive just chines characters.

Can CCV1.3 send TUIO OSC??? Cause the MultitouchVista need TUIO OSC to control the Win7

It seems that the new version of CCV , the CCV1.3 can not send TUIO OSC , there are only 2 choices:

TUIO UDP

FLASH XML

so, How can I send TUIO OSC out??

anybody help?? I know in CCV1.2, I can send TUIO OSC .

Very weird problem with TUIO under Win7

Hello everyone.
I have my own TUIO server sending our cursors.
I’m testing it with TUIO_DEMO supplied in the TUIO project.
When I run TUIO_DEMO about half the times I get no events.
It is completely random.
I DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING, just exit and run it again, it works.
Exit, run again, doesn’t work.
The server keeps running and sending out events all the time.
I’m running under Win7 64bit port 3333 (firewall off)
It tried changing the port, same result.

Any ideas why this is happening ?

LNK2019 Error with TUIOdump codes (a demo app that came with the TUIO C++ developer API)

Hi,

I was trying to put the TuioDump.cpp codes into my project to see if my project could receive TUIO messages correctly. However, even after configuring my project exactly the way it was in the original TuioDump demo source files that came with the TUIO C++ package, my project compiled with the following linker errors:
