Recapture background every time

It seems that configapp doesn’t remember background removal settings, so some of the applications are useless at the moment.

I start configapp, adjust slider settings, remove background and then exit. When I start the configapp again, sliders are remembered (which is obviously stored in config.xml), but background isn’t removed. This makes some applications really useless.

Am I doing something wrong?

Try hitting “b” to recapture the background when you start configapp, osc, smoke etc.

Touchlib automatically removes background when it starts! but most probably your camera’s on its “AutoExposure” mode! then it’s brightness will become variable and changes as your camera’s trying to adjut its brightness! as cerupcat said you’ve gotta hit “b” button and it’ll recapture the background, even if ur app’s running! but in some cases like the old CsTI dlls you couldn’t do this, although it’s been fixed in latest versions of CsTI!

yeah, ideally you want to capture the background a few seconds after the app starts.

I capture the background initially during a “loading” screen like you mention whitenoiz.  Also, I check overall difference between frames and if it falls below a certain threshold for a period of time, I’ll take a new background image.  This helps out a great deal when I’m testing in my house and the ambient light changes.

Thanks for your answers guys. I’m still getting confusing results with smoke app. I presumed it had something to do with background removal - i’m getting infinite number of “Square Detected -858993460” lines in command window. When I touch the screen, new squares are detected (with ids 1, 2...), but nothing happens.

Mousedriver app isn’t giving any response as well and I’m getting the same “Square Detected...” line

"Square Detected” is some alpha-code for tracking fiducials.  It’s just an output and doesnt affect the blob tracking and OSC output.

If you are getting “Square Detected LARGE NUMBER” that means touchlib thinks the entire perimeter of the capture is a fiducial.

I think you need to use resize or crop filters the capture so that Touchlib is just analyzing your surface, and not the frame or anything else.

I’m having the same problems. It keeps telling me “square detected 0” and when I touch the screen, it keeps telling me the same with the “0” changed in the numbers of fingers I use. He doesn’t recognize any blobs eventough my blobs in de configuration are very bright on a total black background, he doesn’t see a frame or anything else, only the square i use to touch and that’s totaly black. Even when I put the camera out of my box he keeps telling me the same…
First i thought it was my computer but he also gives the same result on a different computer…
I’ve been trying everything for the last 2 days and getting a little desperate...:s
