Dear Friends,
Japanese company SHARP has just released some samples about a new type of Light sensor embedded LCD screen, it has one Light sensor pixel embedded along with 3 color pixels, so it can scan pictures while displaying. I saw they made a demo of GIS related application(multi-touch enabled, Gesture control), and I believe this can be a revolution to hand-hold Electrionic Entertainment devices.
Nima, that is really nice! I’ve been thinking of using a projector but considering that it is really expensive I tried looking for cheaper options. Now, that I have seen that you were able to do it without a projector, I want to build my MT using your setup. If I am not mistaken you started out with LCD-FTIR but ended up with RI. Is still possible to use an acrylic above the LCD panel? I have acquired an acrylic already and don’t want it to go to waste. :( If this would be so, do you still have to use silicone or something? Do you have any step by step process in dismantling an LCD projector? I really am wary of doing this. Still new to this though. Thanks.
Nubii,
Acrylic will work for FTIR, DI, LLP, and DSI. For FTIR, though, you have to have acrylic (or plexiglass...but not regular glass). For the other methods, though, any of them work.
Silicone/compliant surface is only necessary for FTIR - unnecessary and unwanted for the other 3 techniques.
Nima, I noticed you mentioned “client” ... are you able to share what sort of price range the client ended up paying you for the finished work? It might be interesting data point to add to this forum so we have a better what the market demands and is willing to pay for.
