I hacked a Creative Labs VF0070 Webcam last night.
This camera has some good specs for MT:
1.  Flat profile with handy top clip (good for shooting upward)
2.  Wide angle lens
3.  USB 2.0
4.  640x480, 30FPS
The software also has many manual settings:
1.  Color/Compression
2.  Output Size
3.  Frame Rate
4.  Auto exposure can be disabled
5.  Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Gamma
6.  Banding Filter
7.  White Balance
8.  Image can be flipped vertically and horizontally
9.  Tracking mode can be disabled
10. Digital zoom and panning

And of course the IR filter can be removed.  Although I had to break it and it was challenging to disassemble the case.

Here a some notes regarding IR filter removal:
1.  Remove the rubber clip pad to expose 2 screws.
2.  Next the 3 silver panels on the sides need to be pryed off.
3.  I used a small screw driver to get under the panels which are glued on.

1.  There are now 4 plastic clips the hold the main case together.
2.  The clips can be released with a small screwdriver.
3.  Remove the motherboard which will snap out.
4.  Remove the single screw holding the silver camera cylinder down.
5.  Remove the lens focus ring which will snap off.
6.  Unscrew the lens until is loose.
7.  Remove the LED cover which is held down by 1 screw.
8.  Pry open the silver cylinder careful and pop out the lens.
9.  The IR filter is on the lens assembly on the side that faces inward toward the camera.
10. I Removed the glass IR filter with a utility knife. (it broke when I removed it)
11. Put everything back together (make sure the ribbon cable is wrapped so the camera cylinder can rotate.

I got a very similar one:

The dissasembling procedure is almost the same. The main difference is that this model is only USB1.0 and that means a lower frame rate.

Cheers!
