i would like to make me a ftir screen, but i have a little problem that i personally can’t solve:
first i’m gonna say that the screen will be controlled by a laptop, that has a dual core processor, 2 gig ram and a g-force 8600m gt
so my spec’s will probably be ok for this, i think
but the actual problem, my laptop has a built in webcam, and if would like to place an other cam for the ir signals,
would i be able to say, use that webcam and not that built in one?

i’m just curious, cause i’d like to start this as soon as possible.

grtz, Thomas

Yeah you will be able to use it sometimes touchlib has a problem recognizing which camera to use but you can manually edit the config to select the right camera… using graphedt utility

Yeah you’ll be fine. I have a built in webcam and touchlib actually see my usb/firewire cameras before seeing the webcam.

Hello demogorgon,

I had the same problem when setting up my multitouch display.
You can really simply solve this problem.

What you want to do is disable the built in webcam in the device manager.
___________________________________________________________________________________
1. In the start menu there is something called the Control Panel.
vista_01.png

2. Once in the Control panel.
3. Click on Hardware and sound.
4. Then click on device manager.
5. In the device manager find imaging devices.
6. Click on the plus sign to bring down all the devices in that category.
7. Then locate the webcam with the same company name as your laptop.
***Or you can locate the built in webcam by finding the name of the usb webcam. The built in cam is the one that doen’t have that name.
8. Right click on the built in webcam’s name.
9. Then click disable.
10. Then you can use your usb webcam with the normal setup install.
wink
