Hi all,
I’m currently building a fairly large MT desk. The aspect ratio is 16:9 and will measure 46"x25.875" (1168.4mmX657.225mm) with a resolution of 1920X1080. Can anyone suggest a good cam to work with at this size and resolution. Would it be best to get 2 cams, such as the xbox live webcam, and work with that? Thanks in advance

Any fast cam with a wide angle lens should do.  How deep is your box?  Also, how do you plan on getting 1920 by 1080 resolution?

Two good cameras are the Fire-I or FireFly.  I do not think anyone has managed to get two cameras working yet, but we would appreciate it if you could

Sounds close to what I’m building, but a slightly bigger viewable area.  Are you using an LCD?

I ended up using just one Fire-I camera with a 2.8mm lens.  Don’t quote on me on that ... but I’m pretty sure that was what it was (it was the second from the widest lens) With this I can place the camera on top of the backlight which is around a foot off the ground for a three foot high table (see my blog for pictures)

For me, the Xbox Live vision didn’t have a wide enough viewing angle.  Plus the Fire-I doesn’t require ripping apart the camera to take out the IR filter and gives better performance being Firewire.  It is a bit more expensive, but coupled with a band-pass filter I think this is probably the best way to go.

I had an extra live vision cam already, so I’ll try that out before investing in a Fire-I. For the resolution xelapond I’m almost done building my own projector. Lumenlabs and DIYprojectorkits.com has loads of info on that if you’re interested. Does touchlib work well with wide angle lenses? Is there any distortion on the edges of the image?
