I’m not sure if this has been posted before, but where can I source high power IR LEDs in India? After a lot of hunting i managed to get SFH213 no specifications though.

for FTIR.. i used the IR Led - IR-0510 from Microimpex ... they have a shop on lamington road in mumbai… m not sure where are you placed… these are almost as powerful as the osram shf484’s ... i guess they are rated at 130mW/sr ... those are the best i could locate and cheapest too… one IR led is some 15 buks or so… and they are pretty good quality.

tho i had to ask a friend to pick em up and courier em to me since they dont ship it… but that was back in september last year… just call em up… details here >> http://www.microimpex.com/index.asp

Cool. I’m in Chennai. I’ll go back to my dealer here and check if he can get SFH 485. He asked me to test with the SFH 213FA (http://us.100y.com.tw/chanpin.asp?MNo=35028) and a couple of others . Looking at the specs now, seems like I can’t use it.

Ok ... These LEDs have beam width of 20 degrees. Should the touching the acrylic edge or should they be placed a little away ?
If they have to be positioned away from the edge, how much distance should be mantained ?
