Hello,

I have installed TouchLib on a MiniMac - Intel Core Duo, Mac OS X 10.4.11
I started the sampleapp

- first with the Philips SPC 900 (USB) - IR converted
---> it worked, but the frame rate ist really low with the macam driver and the exposure changes all the time -> not really usable

- that’s why I tried it with the iSight (Firewire) - IR converted also
---> sampleapp chrashes immediately

Do you have any idea, why it crashes?
I use the current version = updated the svn today.

Thanks,
Grit.

Grit, I don’t mean to hijack this thread (an old thread at that) but you mentioned you were able to IR convert your Apple iSight camera; there’s been talk about converting this camera here before but many seem to think it isn’t possible. Can you please explain how you managed to convert it? Maybe even provide a short DIY if you can? Would help quite a few of us out.

Hi dosto233,

Yeah, well, no answer to my question so far ...  :/

Now to your question:
I converted the iSight some months ago, but the result was not really satisfying: I removed the IR-blocker, inserted negative film, and reassembled the cam - and then the autofocus didn’t work any more. I’m not sure why this happened, but I think that the autofocus somehow works using visible light frequencies ... maybe. Couldn’t solve the problem: tried to let it focus on a wide range like I needed without filter-conversion, separated the connection of the autofocus inside the cam, changed the filters, reassembled the cam - but all the image was fuzzy again…

Sorry, I can’t really give any helpful suggestions. I now use Windows and the Philips cam.

Greetings, Grit.
