Hello Snaketh and welcome to the forum
One thing i noticed in the video, is that you are trying to run touchlib straight from the .rar
Try extracting it to a location on your hard drive first, (C:\tochlib for instance).
Then, you might want to check your firewall.
Touchlib sends messages to touch applications through a network protocol, which your firewall may be blocking.
Try allowing all communications from localhost (your own computer) or the IP address 127.0.0.1 (also your own computer) and you should hopefully be able to run touchlib without any risk.
i hope this helps

the ideal levels will vary for each setup.
first, run configuration.bat
a number of windows will open.
dvlscapture0, mono1 and invert2 are only to show what your webcam is currently seeing.
backgroundremove3 is made to adjust the removal of background noise, use the slider to increase the threshold if you have static or noise on your webcam image to remove it.
simplehighpass4 blurs the image a bit, so that the blobs of light your fingers make become easyer to track.
in this image, most of the dark colours should have disappeared allready.
in scaler5, you can intensify the image a bit, so that the light colour becomes more intense (you might try to slide this one up)
rectify6 is for the removal of any remaining gray colour.
sliding it up will eliminate any grayish tones that are still left.
if you can see your fingers making nice blobs in rectify6, you’re good.
press enter
now, you can calibrate your screen.
simply follow the instructions on the screen.
when you’re done, close this all down.
then run server.bat
once it’s up, start gateway.bat
this will start a java program with a little “start” button on it.
hit that.
now go to demos\Flash demos and start one.
happy touching

wow thanks for the help!
but sadly, i just cant get my fingertips to turn white!!!!
ive tried so many combinations, of different things, but my finger tips wont turn white!
i dont know what to do.......how should the light hit the box? should ther be no light at all? should it have a direct beam on it???
im have no idea...... im so frustraded with this thing!!!
i have no idea what to do.
now from my understanding, this is what i should do:
1. get a box, and put a web cam in it, and then lay a pane of glass over the top of the box.
2.get 1 piece of paper, and tape it to the glass so it doesent fall off.
3.open up touch lib, and set the values and stuff so that my fingertips appear white.
OK STEP 3 IS WHERE I JUST CANT TO IT!!! i dont know if i need like a special light or sumthin or what!!!
it wont work to where my fingertips are white. if i could get that to work i d proboly be set and be able to do this.
please help

aha, so you’re using an MTMini setup, just like me
a setup with mtmini does not require very special light.
the sheet of paper should be thin enough to let the light of the room you are in (or if you are outside, the sunlight) through.
you should make sure however, that you don’t make any shadows except with your fingertips.
if the light on the box is too sharp and direct (for instance, a lightbulb right above the box) your shadows will be too sharp.
i tried mine outside, under an umbrella on a sunny day, which worked nicely.
The light that did reach the box was diffused and unsharp, making nice dark spots where my finger hit the box.
so, there should be light, but no direct light, and it shouldn’t make sharp shadows of your hand if you’re holding it above the box.
also, you might try looking at http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/1731/
which has some detailed instructions.
Also, make sure you have the version of touchlib that is on that page!
the original touchlib is designed to look for spots of light instead of shadows!

ok yeh i did that, but my fingers only appeared in black.
no matter how much i played around with it, my fingertips would not turn white.
i am also bound inside, so it has to be in the room im in.
how should i get it to wherethe shadows of my fingertips change from black to white?

wow this one certainly is different…
umm a problem that im running into, is that on most of the screens, that have bars to change stuff with, nothing is showing up.
the first three are really the only ones that show up with an image, so im not sure what bars to change in order to make my fingertips show up.

back to post #5
you will see that the windows have a name ending in a number, 1,2,3,4 etc.
1 2 and 3 will allways show an image (unless it’s pitch black)
you need to work your way from window 4 to 5, then 6 etc.
tweak the sliders untill your fingertips show up as blobs in window 4, then move on to window 5 and so on.

So Snaketh.....What did you do to get it to work? I’m having the same problem (fingertips not white!) as you did. I read this several times, I’m just stuck?
