Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has tried frosted glass on an LLP setup yet.  How much IR does the frosting block(This probably applies to DI as well)?  The acrylic that I have been using sags in the middle from lack of support, which would make uneven spacing from the Laser Plane.  I have not actually tried it yet, still waiting for my lasers to arrive.  Glass is certainly more rigid then acrylic, and I do not think it would do this.  What kind of frosted glass do people recommend?  I have read that window film seems to work well.  What kind were you using and where do you get this stuff?

Thanks,

Alex

Hey there Alex, my DI setup uses frosted glass (sandblasted), and you’re right a lot of people have used the Window film with success. (not me yet)
I have modified my table to use an LLP setup. No sagging from the glass (4mm thick).
Also because the laser light is so bright, there is no issue with light passing through the frosting. If anything, using frosted glass would mean that more IR light would get through to the camera behind the glass.

Thanks,

I will be getting some frosted glass then!  I just got my lasers today, so Ill post some results soon.  I don’t know when I will be able too, probably by Monday.

Your ORION setup looks awesome, I can’t wait to try out mine with four lasers!

Thanks again,

Alex
