I thought this was worth showing the group:

(Starts @ 0:40 seconds in)

It was demoed at Phillips Simplicity show last year, and is a really interesting concept. Its called Active-Glass. Basically an “In-Air” Touch Interface using Glass as the display area. Awesome possibilities smile

This is so nearly do-able!

The hardware and sensing aren’t too much trouble… that could be done with IR and ultrasonic sensors connected to a micro-controller with a bit of code onboard.

The trick is the window panel.

I would use OLEDs built into the acrylic or glass. and the backlight is just the ambient skylight.

Well isn’t it do-able since it’s been done? wink It’s a real demo. I’m wondering how they did the window display too. Very interesting.

Hmm very slick. Nice concept. Clear LCD perhaps. Would be even better without the window bars!

i think the “window” is a rear-projected canvas.

Tisk! you dont think its fake do you! I did at first think it was rotoscoped! As this sort of post production technique is fairlt easy to do, if the cams are on tripods you can add the cam shake afterwards.

I didn’t want to poo poo it, cos its a great concept!

I know it’s “real” smirk  I meant it could be a DIY project. Might be fun to try to make it happen, hack an LCD flat panel panel, connect it to a computer and put in front of a window.

Oh very nice, can imagine a very possible setup like this with transparent OLED displays (OLED windows anyone?).  As far as the interface think that has already been solved by the people of this site (and for that many thanks!).

I’d say it’s a projector.
And a nice RP screen.

You could see no evidence of indirect light coming from the ‘sky’ outside. Only light coming from the ‘sun’.
Also you never saw the camera move so no evidence of depth.

I could be wrong but,,, well…
