Hello All,

I am a live environment designer for Hollywood motion pitctures (Minority Report, The Island, AI, Deja Vu) who is opening a new experience design company in Los Angeles called OOOii / Open Interface. The idea of the new shop is to create tools that allow for exciting new forms of art/expression utilizing a mashup of physical computing / data visualization / interaction design elements. We are hoping to meet / collaborate with / work with / offer “wisdom” to a community of artists/developers who share the same interests.  We are very excited about the creative potential of this type of collaborative community and look forward to being a part of the process.

Currently working on a flash multitouch app and a multi-sensor based POS/orientation framework. Going decent depending on what day you ask me.

Is anyone coming to LA for Siggraph? We would be happy to provide info / organize an event . . .

This is way too long already so I should say goodbye for now. Take care, Kent

I’ll be @ Siggraph smile

I really like this idea maybe we can round some NUI Group memebers up and all meet up during the conference.

Your venture sounds very interesting especially with the keywords “Open Interface” in the title.

G’luck and welcome to the community smile

P.S. Nice tagline ... building it for the kids indeed.

Hey kentD. Good to have you! I’m a little South of you. Between SD and LA. I’ll actually be up in the LA area sometime next week.

There’s a good chance i’ll be at Siggraph too. If you can get me in for free, that’d be great! lol A meeting will definitely be in order! =) There’s actually a good number of people in the Southern California area from nuigroup.

Glad to have you here and can’t wait to hear more about what you’re doing.

Am going to be around LA those days… but cheking the event website I couldn’t find what will be the price just to attend the show and not the conferences (I’ll be traveling with all the family, so I can’t live them to attend the entire event).

Anyway, if there’s going to be a reunion with NUI members, I’ll be glad to be there smile

Cheers!

@ Probo: I think it said somewhere $50 per day.

It looks like there will be a good number of nuigroup members at this event.

Should we organize an informal bash the opening weekend and/or a “birds of a feather” (room for presentations / UI discussion) for later in the week? My experience has been if you only have a day then the new tech, art gallery, a quick run of the floor and the Fast-Forward Technical Papers Preview will give you a good taste of the event. If you’re into animation then the animation festival is incredible but difficult to get into if you don’t preorder your tickets.
