Howdy!
I’ve been perusing the site for a while, collecting ideas and information. So, now that parts are coming in the mail and in return for the info I’ve received thus far, I figured I’d join and add my voice to the movement.
As a college student living in a tiny apartment with a restricted amount of income, my design has to be especially functional and multi-task. The finished product has to also be of a quality to withstand years of use attractively and be easily accessible for upgrading and repair.
So, I’ve settled on a design dividing the cabinet and tabletop into manageable and more affordable chunks with some attractive features. Since the budget for this project is coming from my fund for a TV, coffee table, and new computer, it has to be all three things at the same time, or with slight modification.
With this concept in mind, the concept has a 1/2 inch makrolon (polycarbonate) surface capable of bearing loads, the projector is kept in brackets for easy removal and accurate replacement, and the cabinet folds out for added tabletop space when necessary and to place the projector on for wall viewing.
Nothing ground-breaking, modest specs, but a platform that can accomodate any of the available technologies without requiring a rebuild as well as adding increased mechanical functionality.
And also a shiny example to show off and spread the MT message on a college campus full of engineers with too much time on their hands…
