I think nima published a paper about that. Search for Nima Motamedi (I think) on ACM.

I’m not sure, but I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t work.

I have an LCD FTIR setup but I did try the DI as a test, or actually by accident. My work lamp was shinning the backside of LCD and had the IR LEDs turned off. I don’t know what I was doing but then the DI blobs should up. Then I tried it just for DI case, and it seemed to have worked fine. My setup is FTIR and works as it is, plus I don’t have a need for DI since I am not using a table (flat) surface.

The answer is yes I accidently tried it and it worked with LCD.

I’m working on one right now.  Initially I was going to use the DI method but I’m moving toward the direction of a LLP/DI hybrid.  One thing you’ll want to look into is what is called the “FFC Issue” before you buy the display for your table.
