It probably uses capacitive sensing or it could have 2 camera’s in front of the screen away from view

If it has 2 sides of IR detectors and the other 2 sides as IR emimitter it will work but then therw will be a problem of occlusion

Here is a clip from there site…

LED lighting irradiates the sensing area and reflects back to camera to detect fingers. Via precise calculation, system will get the coordinates of the fingers caught by camera. We call this technology “OPTICAL TOUCH” which is the best technology currently for large scale of touch display. And, the patent has already been registered in major market of the world. With this technology, the accuracy and system speed is perfect, and multi touch function is also available.

Here is the link to see the inistration of how they are doing it

It seems to me that they are avertising a touch screen add on, I put in bold the key phrase that caught my eye above.

I appears that they build per design/order. you would have to call to get a price quote.

Here is there video off of Youtube

I’m not sure, but I have a feeling that it isn’t cheap enough to justify it in a build yet. If they sold the 42” or 60” with touch functionality for around $300 then I could def see me trying one out, but I highly doubt it.

As for anyone going for this, please do let us know the price, or atleast the price and size you get since it depends on each specific order.

Great info! Thanks! That confirms it for me though, 42” and 60” models must be through the roof.

hi nuis

newb to the forum here:

i’m working on getting a multitouch interactive concept together. i need the interactive to scale to a table approx 12’x5’ in dimension.

Q: Is is possible to get a MT table this size? or to build one? i’m imagining the IR LED’s will run out of light in the center of such a large table?

Q: If it can’t be done this way can i do something else using stereo cameras mounted overhead?

any leads would be most appreciated here..
thanks gurus!

Great info, GeoMan!  Have you purchased one yet?

I’m sure you are wondering if the IR frame could be retrofitted with a acrylic sheet to produce a FTIR for much less than the price differential.

I’m a school teacher with a vision for using a multi-touch screen to navigate through a virtual human.  I can’t afford the cost of entry so I’m hoping someone at NUI will produce a solution for a total cost of less than $200.

One of these 19” LCD panels retrofitted with acrylic for FTIR would finally place a multi-touch desktop in the right ballpark.

Please keep us informed.

Interesting. Im looking into making a smaller multitouch coffee table for my living room (not a large living room unfortunatly)

So if im reading this correctly then essentially I could buy a multitouch for (around) £180, put it around a 19” acrylic sheet and then (securely) fit an unmodified 19” LCD screen beneath it for a relativly easy build that doesnt have to be very high off the ground? (i.e. coffee table height)?

Would that work in principle? And is there any reason the software posted on this site wouldnt work with this set up?

Did anyone find out, if they can be connectet easily like a e.g. a Wacom table and work with Windows and OSX?

And do I get this correct, the multi-touchscreen 22” costs only 500 US$, fully functional?
