I was dissasembling the LCD I planned on using for my MT table and accidentally broke the backlight in the proccess. Anyone have any suggestions for alternative backlights?

Just some bright white LEDs should do.  Many people have actually replaced the lights found in LCDs with LEDs because they emit no IR light.
