I received a sample of Lumisty film today.  It was used in one of the reference projects cited in Jeff Han’s paper.  It is transparent at certain angles but diffuses at others.  It would make a good FTIR projection surface under certain circumstances:

a) You can mount the projector on a desk behind your table.  You need to project from out of your line-of-sight or else you may be blinded by the projector.  The Lumisty catches some, but not all, light.

b) You are in a dark space.  When using a projection surface and a compliant surface, you are able to block most of the environmental light from tampering with your display.  Lumisty gives a clean view of the FTIR board and everything behind it.  This is great if you are trying to see the exact size and shape of the objects touching the board, but if there is a window or a shiny door behind you, your blob detector will freak out.
