I am working on a DI setup… small box, probably 30"w x24"d x36"h. Was thinking of purchasing an Illuminator (or two) for my IR light source.

Is this a good price for one? http://www.pinecomputer.com/coinilpn.html

And do you think 1 or 2 would be necessary for a box that large?

Thanks!

I got one of these:

for the amount of leds you get it’s pretty cheap.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I just received my 2 48LED illuminators from Pine Computer today. Kind of wish I had spent the extra $20 and gotten the power adapters. Now I have to figure out how to power these things. Hopefully those will be bright enough for my first setup. I tried to order several of the ones on ebay, but the conversations I had with the seller were not very encouraging and he was pretty unresponsive. If you’ve had good luck with a specific seller, definitely let me know.

@Gravano… also just got the filter sample. THANKS!

no problem, you should ask some kind of guy you know that does electronics to help you if you cant fiddle it out, there are usually enough people with some knowledge on electronics.

http://www.virtuavia.eu/shop/index.php?target=products&product_id=29844&sl=DE

the cheapest shop in germany is ebay:
http://stores.ebay.de/high-end-hifi-vespa-und-sicherheit (search for “IR Scheinwerfer")

Good info. Quick question… many of these illuminators have built in photoelectric sensors to allow the lights to come on automatically in the dark. For our applications, we would want them to come on any time we want (and with the projector shining at them, obviously this won’t work). Do many of you just disable the sensor with some electrical tape, or do you get more indepth and remove the sensor all together?

hi Barrante,

yes, its possible. you open the box and disconnect the little board (inkludes a relais and an ic) where it goes into the big lightning-box. you can connect the red and the blue wire direct to your DC.
