I’m using tracing paper on top of silicon rubber that i poured on my acrylic.
As i had problems to get an even surface the first time i made the silicon rubber sheet i used softener second time.
Now the tracing paper still triggers the FTIR effect a few seconds after i pressed on a spot.
I made a short video to demonstrate the problem:

Do you think the softener is the problem or am i doing something else wrong?

What kind of silicone are you using? And what is this softener?

How long has it been curing? It may not be fully cured yet. Basically, the tracing paper is sticking to the siclione. So either the slicone isn’t fully cured, or you need to try a different material other than that tracing paper.

One thing I noticed is that the silicone layer tends to get less sticky with time. I’m talking about weeks here, and it’s very gradual. It may be that dust is causing that to happen, but I’ve never let my sheet in open air. Maybe the total curing does take longer than a few hours. Or maybe it’s just my impression.
Another point to mention is that you make sure to weigh parts A and B very precisely, and mix it well.

yup.. i can confirm that this happens with fresh silicone treatment but get better in a couple of days / weeks as it cures better… if it doesnt then probably the silicone wasn’t mixed properly or in the right proportions.

Had that happenin for our sheet (even tho we mixed well and in correct proportion) for 2 days or so.
