Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking about how best to build the frame for my FTIR project.  What are peoples experiences with different materials and construction techniques regarding how to go about constructing a solid frame (i.e. to hold the screen, rosco and all); my current project has a table top interaction scheme, i don’t know if this limits construction techniques or not. Attached below are a couple of quick designs i came up with, and made in paint, What are peoples opinion on them and which one should i go with. Constructive criticism is encouraged. tongue wink
If any of you here have other suggestions or have designed frames which have worked well; i would really appreciate if you could give me some pointers.

Thanks
Taha

hey .. nice ideas taha .. but from my building experience .. what i can infer is that in the first two solutions you acrylic is restin on angles that are fixed to the main body / frame using nails / screws ... the problem here could be that with use n time .. people tend to put weight on the edges of acryil by leanin on it or just takin support .. as a result the load tries to shear off the l section and it might come off eventually .. secondly i hope this is not to scale cause if the L section is not uniform and the part supporting the acrylic is wider than the paert scewed to the body , then its not a good structural solution…

the third option looks more stable since the load of acrylic is being transferred vertically to the main frame… ...

there is already a thread where people have put in thier construction ideas ... look it up for some ideas!!!

Hey Deej, thanks for the link and your insight, i saw it i while before when i was just reading through the forum.
and yes you are correct to assume that the drawings are not to scale the the L rails is a 1x1”.
Reading through that thread has made me undecided which method to employ, and build my frame… initially i was going to go with the second design, but the flaws you pointed out are suggesting me to go with the 3rd design.

i’d love to hear other peoples ideas on this, i know many of you have built FTIR designs.

Cheers
Taha
