lol, I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier. this meant for windows 7. and I think vista is windows 6.5. a stepping stone for to windows 7. there r ways to get windows 7 but im not sure if it has good compatibility with all the programs I use.
wait...do you have windows 7?!!!

hope that clears stuff up,

No, I am running Vista Ultimate. Of course I know that Vista is not Windows 7, but I naively thought to give it a shot wink

i was so anxious i completely forgot about the “for windows 7” part. lets see if the real beta comes out for xp and vista as well, they did mention that it was possible but they only had it for windows 7 now.

Hey lamakila123 how it going.  I’m with you on school lots of work no time to work on multi-touch projects, but I have good news.  I’ve just finished installing window’s 7 on my Dell Xt. Is there any driver issues i should be aware of?  I’ve installed it via virtual pc will this cause issues with the ntrig drivers?

The definition of Vista taken from Wikipedia.  Vista : A distant view or prospect. Like on the horizon or almost there.

you should be able to use the drivers but i have never used a virtual PC so i couldn’t tell you how the drivers are installed. (if they use the same drivers as the actual machine or not). probably not but im not 100% sure. with windows 7, the new and improved drivers off of the n trig website should work just fine.

please tell how windows 7 is going for you so far. i really dont like the idea of making a new OS so soon after vista but still...,

Virtual PC emulates some environment with its own hardware. Thats mean no digitizer. You have to install w7 on real hardware.

Do you need Multitouch framework for WPF that works with any device? Visit http://multitouchvista.codeplex.com/.  It also includes multitouch driver for Windows 7.

HI,
Any updates here?
I discovered that HP launches the TouchSmart TX2 in a few weeks which obviously has a N-Trig touchscreen as well. A video on YouTube demonstrates a few more gestures, e.g. an “M"-movement launches a multimedia application. Any chance for a homebrew solution like this?

Also curious about this. I have a tx2 coming soon, and will probably be installing linux on it. Since there is zero support for the n-trig digitizer on linux right now, I’ll probably be hacking on it for a while…

Hi everyone,

i’ve been of this topic for a while now, but i’m curious if anyone is still on it?

Has anyone installed osx or linux on the lattitude or the tx2 to try to get around the windows closed-HID problem and gain direct access to the touchscreen data?

well I just got my tx2 yesterday, and have ubuntu installed. The stylus works as a mouse pointer out-of-box, but zero touch support at this point, wacdump shows no info, but that’s because it relies on your devices being defined in xorg.conf, and so far I’ve been letting hal do the work.

As an aside, the use of multi-touch under vista was carp, I’ll probably take another look at MS when windows 7 comes out

I just got an HP Touchsmart tx2z as well (running Vista 64). I’d love to do some research/testing with help from people on the forums. Hit me up if you have any tasks I can assist with. My coding skills are weak but I can compile applications and perform advanced tasks on my computer.

peace~*

Hi there,
I am enjoying my Lattitude XT with windows 7 (build 7000) and the pre-beta n-trig drivers - multitouch works fine in paint when the brush is selected. Unfortunately, there are no other apps available where more than 2 fingers can be used.

I would like to know whether somebody already tried to translate the windows 7 multitouch touch events (WM_TOUCH*) to TUIO messages, which would enable all those nice flash etc multitouch applications to run on current multitouch PC/tablets.

If not, then I’ll give it a go.... Anybody interested?
UPDATE: the beta of WM_TOUCH to TUIO is kind of ready, it runs more or less ok with the multitouchflickrviewer. I will post a separate message on this and hope other developers can give me some answers.....

@ lamakilla123.  Did you get a chance to install windows 7 build 7000.  joukev has been working on WM_Touch to Tuio interface and I think you should check out this thread. We can put some heads together.  http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/4087/ plus I hear the win7 ntrig drivers are way better than the pre-beta.  There is way more control and not just through gestures as I thought before.
