Hey guys, I’m a big novice when it comes to this stuff, but I came up with some test programs that worked just fine on a Windows 7 PC. When we tried them on an XP computer, it didn’t recognize my touches anymore. It would still respond to mice inputs, but no touch. Was the Windows 7 touch causing it to work on 7 and not XP? Is there a way for me to get MT4J to accept touch inputs on XP? Thanks!

Hi,

- what device (touchscreen) did you use MT4j with?

Only Windows 7 supports multi-touch events, Windows XP does not. So to use multi-touch with XP you have to use another input method such as the TUIO protocol.

We’re using HP LD4200tm 42” monitors. They seem to only accept 2 touches and all the TUIO programs I’ve tried have failed to recognize a camera. Maybe its just best to stick with Windows 7 for this monitor, I don’t know

Yes, the monitor probably only recognizes 2 touch points simultaneously which is a limitation of the infra-red technology used. Also, as I previously said, - only Windows 7 supports multi-touch events. So yes, you should stick with windows 7.
