it seams to be what they use on the Microsoft surface, I assume that one side is frosted, one side is not, where online can you get this, I can’t seem to find it on google.
they use this stuff for DI, so if it works they must not be using projection material only the frosted side of the acrylic.

Yeah frosted glass/acrylic would work just fine. I think ikea has one sided frosted glass. You can also order it or get it from your local glass shop. I can’t remember if any places were mentioned but do a search on the forum for frosted glass since I know people have used it before. If you can’t find any or it’s too expensive you can also try frosted window film as it should do the same thing. I’ve tested window film before and it worked pretty good.

Frosted glass with projection has been used on all sorts of applications. From what I’ve seen it look pretty good; nothing wrong with it. As far as ambient light, that’s an issue no matter what kind of projection surface you use. I don’t know specifics, would have to test the frosted glass with DI to find out more.

The Ikea glass comes in 27 1/2” round for $20, 27 1/2 x 23 5/8” for $20 and 51 1/8” x 27 1/5” for $30. The corners are rounded on the rectangular pieces. This is tempered glass so it cannot be cut. It has a very nice, light frosting on it and looks like it could be a nice surface for images. Look for “Billsta” in the Ikea catalog.

It would be nice to have product identifiers for non-tempered frosted glass that is available from dealers. Then it could be cut to size.
