Hi Tim,

Thanks for the info. I will uninstall again and try the way you said.
To use the dsvl capture do I have to put like this?

<dsvlcapture label="capture1">
<
source value="pgr: 0 640 30 grey8 1 rgb">
</
dsvlcapture>

Otherwise did you install the hotfix for the 1394 drivers or did you use the fix by ptgrey?

Thanks
Greg

EDIT: OK I found what is the correct setting for dsvl

Well I tried, I think, everything and still nothing.
Maybe its the HUB, since Tim connects the cam on a 1394a port directly on the Mac, whereas I have to use a hub to get the correct voltage.
Hmm I think I am stuck with my USB cam until I can buy a dedicated PC for the project.
Thanks to all for the help.

I just tried the firefly on my desktop computer which has built in firewire, WinXP pro SP2, hotfix applied.
It doesnt work neither.
With vwcapture (and SDK drivers) configapp crashes. I can’t even see the message since it closes itself.
With dsvlcapture it doesnt give error message but there is no image from the camera. Only the grey boxes.
I don’t really know whats going on but it is disappointing.
Maybe I’ll try to mount the bundled firewire card.

In the meantime, if anybody have an idea. please share.

Thanks
Greg

@Whitenoiz
Could it be possible to debug this? To see why exactly it doesn’t work?
thanks

Hi Gregi,

finally I did not understood what kind of driver you are using. Are you using the latest driver contained in FlyStream (2006) or in FlyCapture SDK (2004)?
thanks,

Daniel T.

OK, so to be more specific.
I used the FlyStream drivers and this is to use the cam with the dsvl capture.
You can use the new touchlib version: http://www.multigesture.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/touchlib-rev348.zip
so you don’t need to compile anything.

The Flycapture SDK driver is to use when you want to use the vwcapture . But with that one you also have to copy the dlls that you have in the C:\Program Files\Point Grey Research\PGR FlyCapture\bin
direcotry.

I hope I was clear.

It seems that I found a couple of 1394 Cams lying around unused in my lab.  And to my surprise, they’re Firefly MVs or at least I think they are coz they have the same model number as the Firefly MVs except for the fact that there are a few extra letters in front.  They’re nicely packaged so I suspect that they’re from an OEM manufacturer of PtGrey.  Anyway, although I have the cams, I don’t have the drivers!  I tried to download them from the ptgrey site but it seems that they require a serial number which I do not have, for me to register as a user.  So could someone in the forum who has FireflyMVs be able to put the drivers up for me to download?  Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

I just downloaded the last version of Flycapture. It collects a complete documentation and SDK for c# and unmamaged c++. It seems that it is the only way to use the camera at really 60 fps. How can I give it to you?

How big is the file? Could you put it up on a site where I could download it from? FTP?

Quick question....does FlyStream work on Windows Vista?  Coz I need to use flystream instead of capture to use DirectShow.

Just in case anyone else has the same problem.  I was trying to set up my firefly today on another XP machine.  I had to first completely uninstall the CMU driver I had installed before I could use the PGR drivers.  Took me along time to figure out.
