We wrote a DirectShow filter based on Vivek’s VCam that outputs a
640x480 video feed. Since CCV natively supports DirectShow-capable
video cameras and filters, no modifications to CCV were necessary, and
we were able to configure CCV to pretty accurately detect the hands as
blobs. With a little fine tuning, it might be possible to get
fingertip level blob tracking (we haven’t even tried to go there yet).

Thanks a lot for sharing it! I installed it without any problem. Unfortunatelly my procesor is too old and I get very low fps in CCV, but the captured image looks great and it does recognice distance.

Great job!!!

Hi,

Does MT Kinect pass depth information(distance of the hand from the controller) to applications via CCV?

Very amazing stuff!

I am trying this out now, but have ran into a few issues.

The install went great, but when I start up CCV 1.4 I get a lot of static and no indication that it can see movement or depth. I tried to use the camera in SKYPE and it looked like it was working perfect...at only about 1 FPS.

Any ideas?

I figured it out:

1. Set resolution to 640x480 in config.xml

2. Click next / previous camera in CCV until the correct image is show.

Great work on this! Seems to work great with Flash apps, but have had no luck with TUIO Windows 7 mouse drivers.

Any thoughts there?
