For those of you with a Dell Latitude XT2 laptop:
This is a little app (TouchToTUIO) that provides the multi-touch-input as TUIO-output -> download; article with description
Features:
- it doesn’t require a transparent overlay window
- works with fullscreen apps
- works with windows aero
If there is already such a tool, then it’s just another one grin

Hi MashineGun, i’m sorry.. i was quite short with the description.. WM_TOUCH from your link requires a transparent overlay window and i couldn’t get it to work well with Surface SDK and Windows Aero (the overlay window was always visible), so i decided to use a different method which doesn’t require an overlay window and works better for this case.. (at least on my laptop).. the drawback is that it’s limited to dell xt2.. it may probably work with other n-trig-panels as well, but haven’t tested this..

Hello Chi-Tai, many thanks for your contribution, I already added the tool to the software page at TUIO.org.
I didn’t have a chance to test it yet, but I hope that you implemented the full TUIO 1.1 cursor profile.
Also I could verify that, if you’d send me an example dump using oscdump or a similar tool.

A few remarks from my side:
* there is indeed another similar tool around: http://dm.tzi.de/research/hci/touch2tuio/
* and are you planning to release the source too?

I also find your approach to access the Surface SDK quite interesting, although I wonder if you would be interested in directly implementing a TUIO based CustomSurfaceInput, which would at least eliminate one component on your chain. In this case it would also be very interesting to add the TUIO object profile to support other fiducials within the surface SDK too.

cheers,
Martin.K

Hello Martin, thanks a lot for your support. TUIO implementation is oriented on the your C++-reference, so i hope it’s the full cursor profile hehe

Thanks for this hint. Window-hooking is quite nice as well :)

yes, this is indeed planned once all features are implementated.

It’s possible to switch between cursor and object by means of the context menu.

I’m also planning to build something like TUIOToSurface which will then available here.
For this tool, it would make sense to support the blob-profile to benefit from minoraxis,majoraxis..

Also I could verify that, if you’d send me an example dump using oscdump or a similar tool.

That would be great and i will get back to this once i got the blob-profile working.

Best,
Chi-Tai

It would be really exciting if you could do a full featured TUIOToSurface implementation taking advantage of all three current TUIO 1.1 profiles.
If you need any assistance just let me know!
cheers, Martin.K

Just use the TUIO C++ reference implementation from from CVS it has all three TUIO 1.1 profiles implemented there.
cheers, Martin
