Ok, so I’m new and know almost NOTHING about programming, especially iOS programming, but was wondering something about the Table Connect for iPhone idea. Is it possible to display an iPhone’s screen image on something other than the iPhone?

The easiest way to do this, I would think, would be software-wise. But I don’t know if Apple has certain programming restrictions against that or not. Also, I would think, worst-case, the screen image could be ported to another medium hardware-wise. According to iFIXIT’s iPhone 4 Teardown, Step 22 shows the digitizer to the screen display. Is it possible to build a digitizer converter? For example, one end connects to the digitizer, the other end connects through USB or something. It would definitely be a pain in the butt to connect the hardware, but it would provide a robust plug-n-play portability. And that’s basically all my idea is: make the Table Connect a reality.

Is it possible?

Ok, so, looking around on the net I found Veency by Cydia which will do what I was thinking, but VNC almost always has some latency problems. Is there any way around this to make it just as responsive as controling the device directly?

Well I think you should use an iPad. You can get the video out connection and output 1280 x 720 from the ipad I think. There’s probably some cydia app or some form of OSC that you can setup to translate the CCV touch events to iOS touch events. This should be rather doable.
