Around six months ago, during the superbowl, I started on a project that was a mere techdemo at the time. I began work shell that focused on the PS3’s operating system and gave the same sort of feel, while still being able to be interacted with through multitouch/CCV. I named the project ‘XMB_l’, ‘XMB’ for the PS3’s XMB style, and ‘_l’ for the launcher part. I dropped the project for a while because I didn’t see great spark in it, and I was faced with a lot of real life business. The project was left lying on my hard drive until about two weeks ago when I decided to open it up and take a look at where I had left off since six months ago. Needless to say, it needed a lot of work. So, I sat down, grabbed an ice-cold drink, and set to coding for a long while. After many hours coding, I finally got to a stable stage and decided it was time to show it off. So here comes the trailer or preview for ‘XMB_l’. Enjoy!
UPDATE: I just decided that it would be better for the ‘social’ icon to link to the webbrowser and open your favorite social network site. With this being said, I’ve uploaded the Alpha build of this shell to megaupload, and it is available for download at the link at the bottom of this post.</center>
Where it Stands
Currently the progress of this application is labeled as an alpha stable which means it is a fully functional build, but still has some work to do. The Alpha build is downloadable at the link towards the bottom of this post.
Todo: Widgets tab to main screen.
Fully Functional: XMB_l Shell, Music Player (MP3), Photo Viewer (JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP), Movie Player (AVI), user-defined home list, customizable GUI, Web Browser (Embedded Internet Explorer), and custom multitouch keyboard.
NOTE: - Feedback IS appreciated; I AM UNABLE TO TEST THIS SHELL ANYMORE BECAUSE MY TABLE BROKE AROUND A MONTH AGO so please, let me know about any bugs of any kind! Thanks, hillbilly
