Hi NUIs
I am Johannes from Germany. I am doing my postgrad studies in Computer Sciences at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences and I started ‘writing’ my Master’s thesis at the begin of February. Main concerns of my work will be usability issues and best practices with multi-touch applications.
In order to be able to come to some findings regarding usability and best practices i will build an ftir table and additionally take care of the Johnny Cung Lee stuff with the infrared light pen(s) and the wiimote. I try to build both solutions in a way that they will communicate with applications via TUIO to provide means to use different multi-touch hardware with the same applications to be able to evaluate and compare different technologies.
Currently I am collaborating with an Interaction design student from the Central St. Martin’s College in London. We are going to build a Flash application on which details can be found (later on) at our project blog Digital Volvelles. Additionally I am collaborating with another postgrad Computer Science student in Wiesbaden who will build a TUIO client for Quest3D, which is a 3D prototyping software from the Netherlands (somehow the Dutch people seem to be strongly interestes in that User Interface stuff, hihi). By doing this we are aiming to provide a solution with which we can rapidly develop 3D applications for multi-touch hardware that we can afterwards test (and evaluate) in order to find out how 3D applications can be integrated with multi-touch.
Currently I am trying to find some Graphic/User Interface Designers and/or Product Designers that want to collaborate in developing interfaces and/or multi-touch hardware, infrared light pens and so on. I should rather say this in advance: We are doing this on an (hopefully high) academic level and not for making money (so … not yet, hihi). If you’re interested nonetheless just drop me a mail.
I wonder if someone reads this long post…
