So I’m a complete noob here and I’m building an FTIR LCD system. I’ve got everything I need except LEDs, and have tested my system w/ a single led I got from radioshack. Awesomely...IT WORKS! I do have a little issue though. I’m using an Acer monitor that has two boards(on perpendicular edges), and the ribbon connecting them is too short. The boards end up blocking out the top and left side of the screen.

My questions are:
1. What are these ribbons called? (See attached image)

2. How can I extend them? Is this even possible?

**Note: I have to have them connected in order for the screen to work. **

nevermind. I found out that these are called FFC cables. Can’t find any extenders though. Going to invest in a more compliant monitor.
