I’ve written software that turns any surface into a multitouch touch screen, whilst it was released long before Ubi’s product it’s just not managed to gain the same kind of press.  It also works a little differently.

The software uses 1 or more Kinect or OpenNI compatible sensors to turn any flat surface (supports over 200") into a 128-point multi-touch touch screen for Windows 7 and Windows 8.

For more information about the product please visit http://www.touchlesstouch.com

Hoping to add some videos this week, I have an excellent recording showing a 126” projected screen, worked great.

Please send me any feedback, testing, comments you have.

Welcome to the NUI forums!  Sounds cool and it sounds like a video and a few pictures of it will help you promote it! smile

Also, even when the program is closed, your demo watermark still opens up on screen....

Chances are if you experience poor results it’s not quite setup right.  There are some photos on the quick install page here which show correct setup:
http://www.touchlesstouch.com/install.php

The software is running all the time even if the control panel is closed.  To remove the watermarking you either buy the software or uninstall it.

I would be interested in seeing a photo of your setup.  There are a fair amount of ‘happy customers’ using the software and I would like to work out what is different/wrong with your installation.

This video was supplied by someone using the software.  I was particularly impressed with the picture drawn at the end of the video:

I simply taped the kinect to the wall past the corner of the projection image. I already took it down, but I could put it up and try again and take a picture to show.

Ok I owe you an apology. When I set it back up I took extra special care to make sure it wasn’t me messing up, but apparently it was. This time I measured to ensure I had it the right distance away. Also I ensured the kinect was completely flat, and also that the sensor was not angled downward. I actually think this was the problem before as I was trying to prop it in a way that I think angle it. This time I used a ton of tape to make sure it was flat.

I go through the set up and it works pretty darn well. It doesn’t quite get the far corners off one sensor and there are some false touches occasionally, but still, pretty darn well. So I totally apologize. I jumped to conclusions without properly and thoroughly going through a set up. I deleted my previous comments so that they wouldn’t dissuade others as it was totally my fault it wasn’t working properly. I was too hasty and judgmental. Pretty sure I’m about to pull the trigger on buying this.

Will you be releasing something for the new kinect that perhaps needs less distance and has more accuracy?

Glad you got it working!  When I get my hands on one I will be looking into the new sensor.
I’m running a promotion at the moment, if you film a short video (eg 30-60 seconds) showing your setup and it working and put it on YouTube I will give you a 15% discount on the product.  If you are interested then let me know.

Yeah I’d be interested in that. I’m going to see if I can’t do something fun with it for halloween.
