Hi there and thanx to everyone here!!! I have attached my explanation and blueprints on how to build your own TV unit.
I have built a multitouch screen during my spare time as a hobby and i really enjoy it. I have took every information and every software from this site. I have built myself the half of Jeff Hann super screen (without the software) for under 1000$ ... When I have seen he video I have told mysel : I want one!!!! And now, because of informations shared on this comunity i can play with my big toy… I’d like to be programmer but im in mecanical engeneering so i have bases in programing but im not really good..... !!!
Here the invoice of all my gear in this project....
200 osrams IR leds 100$
48x48 inch accrilic 1/2 thick 150$
60x48 inch Rosco grey 30$
60x48 inch Protective foil 10$
1 spc900nc 55$
3 Ir Lens (different angle) 60$
1 Wire and resistance 10$
1 Compliant surface stuff 10$
1 Sharp mb50x Short throw dlp 550$
Total: 975$
Heres video of my setup!
**UPDATE**
I Have made a pdf with my plans and small advice. As I receive question about it regulary it’s seem like it will be apreciated.
I have also made an instructable as it is the reason I start making my MT.
Its a ftir setup build with 168 osrams (1 every inches on four sides). At the begining its was 48 x36 for 60 inches diagonal but now its like 57 inches diagonal due to improvement. I use a simple spc900nc camera with many differents lens before i found the one i really like… I use the complaint surface i have explain in here. My layering is quite simple as I explained in this thread I use the acrilic, the rubber, Rosco grey and on top a protective film found in any hardware store to protect kitchen table.

Nice price for a large touchscreen!!!
I have bought more than i really needed for testing before i make my setup. I had 12x48 inches of accrilic to make my test on.... Sorta clear was hard to find by here and for me it was simpler to make an ftir setup due to the scale. I have no experiences in DI setup but i felt like ftir was better for big screen, it maybe a mystake by myself but i felt like it....
Hi
thanx guys for great comments its nice to read!!! The protective foil i use is a kind of rubber plastic thald old people put on there table to protect the surface. Here in canada you could find it in canadian tire, wich is a kind of home hardware for canadian. I think you could use anything transparent as long as it is confortable with your fingers.
Great Work, Christopher, It looks very smooth and great software interaction.
beside, I want to know the size of your setup.
what’s the distance between projector and acylic?
Hi,
during the last week my MT system went through a lot of upgrades… I have taken somes pics with my cell… My photo camera is on a friend. It needs some few ajustements but it should work perfectly very soon I will do a video at this time. I was not sure about the color but this metalized grey is really stunning.
Wow !! Christopher That looks awesome ..
I was impressed before , but now ....
it looks like it just came off the assembly
line of some big name company..
(i mean that as a compliment!!
Hi,
I did not have the time to fix my issues, so the protective film still got some wave and i cant project to the top or the webcam interfer (both are simple issues). I have taken few other pics and made a short video. I made it in an hurry it was our first great weekend after a long winter. I still have some ajustements to do but it should work really well.
