I built a multi touch table and it’s working great, I can run config and calibrate it. but i can’t get any of the swf files in the clients folder to work, or for example the ripples as3 file.

I have written a simple drag and drop program in AS3 and now i want to rewrite it to accept touschreen input. But how do I do this??

Something else I noticed is that i can run the puzzle demo from multigesture.net

but only if I run the .exe and not if I compile the swf with flash

I have flash CS3 and flashplayer 9

Anyone understands why FLASH doesn’t get the touchevents??
Help would be very much appreciated, if i understand how to get touchevents to flash I can rewrite my own prog for touch table

You need to add the swfs or the folder where the swfs are located to your global security settings. Go here: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the files or folder to the locations.

As for getting touchevents, there will be a tutorial out soon that’ll explain how to create touch based applications.

Tutorials would be great! I have started a few SWF based projects for Multi-touch that sorta work, but my programming skills are pretty limited

First of all thanx! After setting the Global security settings the tutorials in the the touchlib folder all worked.

Now as I said, I am trying to reverse engineer on ripples as the code is written very well and understandable (and one of the very few examples i’ve found that have source code provided.

However I can’t start ripples, I get the following error:
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: TouchEvent.

Edit: I think I’m just missing the classes with the touch events, but where could I find em?

By the way I noticed how you all are troubled with adding a glue like soft layer on the screen to increase blob size, but we just put the paper for the beamer on the not touch side, and this works very well, when touching on the bare acryllic.
(The IR light just passes through and is a little more diffused by the paper layer on the backside)

First, I’m glad you got the security settings working.

Next, ripples isn’t the only application with source code provided. Download TortiseSVN http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads which will let you download the AS3 folder from the touchlib svn. Once tortise is installed, make a new folder somewhere, right click it and select svn checkout. Then put in this link http://touchlib.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/AS3/ That will download the AS3 folder to your folder. Examples are under the src folder with included fla files. The touchlib svn is where all the newest examples and core are located and updated.

As for your “glue like soft layer” that is known as a “compliant surface” and usually is silicone rubber. The reason it is used is because keeping blobs while dragging is very hard without a compliant surface.  You’ll find that it’s hard to drag things without one.
