Good work. Looking nice. It looks like you’re getting some trails though. Maybe that’s caused by the paper you’re using?

Nice setup! I agree with cepupcat, when you get your Rosco I it will be better with the trails problem.

I hope the rosco will fix a lot of things, including the trails and the ambient light. Also the mylar is not the nicest thing to touch over extended periods of time, I gets dirty quickly. I hope I’m not expecting too much from the rosco.

Im also thinking about buying a real IR bandpass filter.

Well, rosco is actually worse for trails. Usually it sticks to silicone. So you would normally need something in between the rosco and silicone. Tracing paper or mylar should work. Still great work.

I was planning on putting the rosco on top of he mylar I use now.  Will it still make the trails worse?

Well the layer that is directly on the silicone is what causes the trails. So if you’re using mylar and there are trails, there will be the same trails when you put on the rosco. Maybe your silicone is still curing. You can also leave the mylar off for a few days and let the silicone collect some dust. I’ve done that a few times and it worked well.

I think that’s where I went wrong the first time I screened my silicone layer. Whenever I pressed the screen it stuck for about a second and gave me trailing problems. It was after I found out that a dusty or fully ‘cured’ silicone layer could fix that rasberry Also, the type of mylar I used had some sort of coating which didn’t help either. Thomas, Have you tried other materials on top of the silicone layer? Tracing paper etc?

Haven’t tried anything else yet.  I though tracing paper/mylar was the same.  I’ll see what other kinds of paper they have at the art store.

Yeah it works really nice… If your rubber is like mine the rosco doesnt stick to it after a week… And the product you use, seem to be like mine so i think you will be able to put it directly on the rubber. My rubber dry and become really hard and unsticky now it never stick even if i let my finger the same place for 1 minute. And I also agree with cerupcat theorie of dust, during my testing i’ve tried it…
