Hello,
my camera is A4Tech PK-130MG and I set it in a DSVL_config.xml but I can’t use it because program configapp.exe create a error report. (look at the picture).
I don’t know what I do now. Please, somebody help me!!!
So has anyone tried putting a projector above their box yet? I would imagine that it might work if you set the brightness high enough. Essentially this might make it work like the Microsoft Surface, but instead of waiting for a publicly available version from Microshaft and paying thousands of dollars for it, you can make a generic, lower-quality version yourself for a fraction of the cost.
Whoever is writing the code for MTmini might want to think about adding functionality to ignore input from the camera if it is relatively the same as what is being generated on the display. In other words, make it so the software would only recognize your hands moving instead of any other moving objects being projected on the surface of the MTmini box.
I would try doing this myself, but I’m a student in a lot of debt and can barely afford a webcam let alone a projector.
generic1976: Check out this whole forum We’re all about creating Multitouch tables/screens just like you’re saying. Although, you can’t simply put a projection on the MTmini. Software alone won’t be able to distinguish between the projected image and fingers without a lot of errors. Instead we use infrared light. You might want to check the rest of the forum to get an idea about what were about.
I’ve just a big problème : When I wanted to start with the 1) Configuration.bat, I couldn’t change any configuration and after it (when I clicked “OK"), every screen preview were black… :s
I think it maybe comes from my webcam : a logitech QuickCam Pro 4000. But I’ve try with some other software and they all work well…
So I’m a little lost in what I could do… Thus if someone can help me plese… Thanks !
EDIT : Sory to have disturb you ^^ But I finaly resolve the probleme : I ust have to add the webcam name in the config files
Hello! This thing is really great. This is my first multi-touch feel! The first one I made, didn’t work well, I used a bond paper and the glass I found at home (I took from a family picture frame) was quite wide and I have to join two pieces of paper together. It was not successful though, all I could see is the shadow of my hand. I tried a smaller one (very small in fact, box is about 3x4") and it worked! Some things I noted, after the C++ smoke demo, if I don’t press Q, the mouse driver wouldn’t work and the flash apps won’t work also. In order for the flash apps to work, I have to close the mousedriver. This went for me. Hope this helps other newbies that might have encountered the same problems. Thanks for this great thingy!
I just recently found your video on youtube and was amazed at how well this worked and tempted me to try it out myself. I just have a quick question. For the users that attached the box’s to the bottom of their desks (I have a glasstop computer desk), how big does the box have to be? I am trying to make this as stealthy looking as possible. Thanks!
The bigger the box, the bigger the surface pretty much. So you can make the box small but you probably won’t have as much of a touch surface unless you get a wideangle lens for you camera. Just play with your camera and see how far from the surface it needs to be to see how much you want it to. Then make a box that is that deep.
Well there goes my stealth idea lol. Few more questions: Does the tracing paper go on top of the glass or underneath it? My room has 3 spot lights that are pretty close to the desk. Will that affect anything with the shadows of the touches?
Tracing paper goes underneath the glass. As you know, the MTmini does rely on shadows, so you’ll probably have to try your setup out - what I’ve found to be the best is bright lighting, not pointed directly at the box, but shining up at the ceiling or something.
I have spotlights in my room, and they didn’t work out well for me - I was getting too much ‘finger’.
rbedi100: Generally it works better to put the paper on top of the glass. The farther the diffuser is from the finger, the harder it is to get precise. If the glass/plastic/whatever you use is thin, you could put it under if you prefer. It’ll work either way, it’s a matter of what works best for your setup. The MTmini uses the paper on top. Also, I prefer touching paper (can be replaced over time) than glass because the friction of glass is much higher and harder to move your finger around on smoothly.
Oh. That’s why my MTmini is not very accurate.
I was thinking under because of continuity - I have matched together several pieces of paper with tape, and the tape junctures would not be smooth for a finger to go over. It just seemed strange to me to be touching paper, but I’ll have a go at it - with bigger paper.
My glass is thin, so it may not make a difference - worth a try though.
