Sweet, I finished building mine! Found an old box, webcam, and picture frame, carved a little stand for the webcam out of styrofoam, and voila! I’ll have some pics and videos up later tonite (going to a show for the rest of the evening).
Cerupcat, and everyone on here, thanks for your inspiration, very very cool!
Built one yesterday from a PS3eye using Alex P’s newer touchlib driver, running on Windows 7RC and after only two hours of messing around with the config settings got a consitently accurate blob reading. Although the smoke demo works quite well and the original (not the newer) mouse driver worked ok, I couldn’t get any of the flash demos to work. Then I trawled the forum a bit more and found the tbeta software ... I should have started right there! The flash demo with that worked ok, though my MTmini needs a bit more box height. My only gripe about using the PS3Eye is that I can’t flip the video horizontally - which was sorted out by tbeta. Woo!
I didn’t really look at all of the instructions (as I assume most people don’t...) and so a few errors and more tirals were made. But all in all absolutely amazing.
I’m very interested now in getting a c# implementation going to tie it in with Silverlight 3 which is what I work with. I’m also interested to find out what people are doing with projectors etc or if there’s any sort of solution for a video surface. Seems unlikely given what the camera is actually seeing but I’m always hopeful!
Thanks again, will be trawling a bit more and hopefully have a few more questions and also pics of the setup shortly and throwing together a blog post at rocketpanda
HI,That is my Box.Is my box too big or have any problem?
There is nothing in our camera,or sometimes is display all of my hand.
When I am in dark section,it display nothing in my computer.
When I am in light section,ti display all of my hand.
I also use picture frame, paper, webcam and four IR lights.
Is the problem in paper? So the IR light can not be spreaded?
Sorry,there are many problems.
Can anyone help me?
I’m totally new to the world of MT, but was really inspired by your tutorial. I’m preparing a kit for my miniMT, but was wondering what is the best webcam (probably the cheapest too), that works best with the miniMT codes.
1) Does auto-focus and face tracking feature in a webcam plays an important role in this build?
2) What is the slowest fps recommended for this build?
3) Does megapixels count (for both video and snapshot or either one) important?
I would be very happy if everyone that has tried this build, would reply with the make and model of their webcam, so newcomers like me can choose which one that suits their project (and budget) :D

I’ve just joined NUIgroup after finally finding some time to make my MTmini and it’s fantastic..!
The demos work great - can’t stop playing with them. I’ll try to install the mouse driver now.
I saw somewhere on the net somebody overlaying webcam video over the desktop (unfiltered; the whole hand can be seen) - so it’s much easier to predict where your hands will tap the screen.
Has anybody done that here? Is there a software for making video transparent in win xp?
I create a home version of multitouch. I put camera ps3 eye with infrared filter in box. I tested a multitouch with CCV program and it’s working. My problem is with flash file when I want to drag. The move, drag, is not played in the file.

I`m new in here and I prepared some thoughts about my upcoming multi touch project,
this MTmini would be great for my first multi touch experience,a prototype if you will.
Well,I need some advice about the camera-
I`m about to buy the MT recommended playstation 3 eye camera, for more FPS capabilities.
As you may know - it works only with edited drivers,
can I perform this tutorial on a PS3 eye flawlessly,or should I get a “regular” PC web cam?
My budget for the big project is kind of short,so I can`t afford my self mistakes.
Hi, Seth. I have managed to run the CCV with my new webcam! The trace of my figures is quite clear~ However, those flash demos don’t work well. Perhaps I should build a larger ‘touch pad’ to fit my 19’ monitor screen by exchanging a bigger and deeper empty box.
