hi to all :D i`m new here and i was just wondering can touchlib be used in cellphones? like touchscreen cellphones? so i can make an app without buyin a touchscreen?

Hi and welcome!

Can you be more specific? Touchlib is a tracking program that takes input from a camera and tracks blobs seen by this camera. The technology behind some kind of touchscreen cellphone is completely different.

ok ok, i thought it could be used to track finger movement withouth the camera too just by touching the screen anyways it is still very useful to what i intend to do :D thanks anyways
so the only way i can use touchlib is with a camera right?

with a camera and either Discreet Illuminuation or whatever DI stands for… blanking out here… or FTIR or Frustrated Internal Reflection

The camera uses infrared light to track more specific blobs than just using a shadow. Then the touchlib software interprets those analog movements on the touch surface into something like X-axis and Y-axis coordinates.

psyra, basically you can’t just turn an ordinary object (like a cellphone) into a touchscreen or multitouch with software alone. There has to be some hardware aspect to it that allows multitouch to occur. In iPhones, a capacitive layer is used, in most of the screens here, a camera is used.
