Hi guys. im a newby. My plan to construct this my self has led me to this forum and what a forum it is!!! Ive been going through all the post and have gained alot of knowledge. I understand what materials are needed mostly in the project but maybe you can help me further. heres the link of what id like to accomplish. http://www.multitouchtechnology.com/videos/ibar-multi-touch-screen-bar-counter/

Alot of the diy mt tables being constructed here are square im assuming.but i do see some post of adding mirrors. What is needed for a long rectangular mt table like this? how would you get the projector to project that far? Mirrors? Also will the bar have to be lined with IR LEDs all the way around? Also i know a camera will be needed wit the IR filter removed. How will i get it to “capture” that wide of an area? Is this done with mirrors as well? Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated guys. Im no big company or nething.Im 26 and me and a partner plan on opening a club together in the next couple of months. This would be a GREAT display at the bar. IBAR wants about 50k for a set up.Thats base.So who knows what it could go up too.I sure dont have that much cash to play with. Thanks guys for taking the time to read.

(and if i’ve posted this in the wrong area, sorry. please let me know)

Hiya Mrpriorityman and welcome.

To build a setup like that, you’ll need multiple projectors and cameras. You also have to modify the software to be able to handle it. If you’re new in the multitouch area, I recommend you to start off with something easy and then evolve with time.

Has anyone had any expereince with creating bar setups?

I am curious as to how it all fits together, how many computers are needed, how they communicate to each other.

The most tricky part would be the software, and it the reason why the professional setups cost lots.

thts awesome ..... though they cud add few more effects instead of just those connecting lines and glows .....
and i also think tht they wud be employing multiple projectors, cameras and Computers for tht thing .... but making all tht work together ! ...... dunno HOW

Actualy i have a better idea. Why not just make 3-4 tables and between them just add about 1” of wood on the top and a separate them with wood in the inside.
It’d be just like the ibar , only you could do it with the normal touchlib , no modifications and would just cost about 2-3-4 grand or cheaper , depending on the size of the bar.

In my view they probably have 2 computers but multiple camera’s and projectors, i computer does the blob analysis, the other does the software i.e. (Flash AS3), and they are linked through flosc or something similar. My reasoning goes as such, now days you can get dual SLI and Crossfire setups where each VGA has 2 VGA ports there for having 2 VGA cards will give you 4 ports (i.e. 4 projectors). and in the ibar case i think they are using HD widescreen projectors with have a aspect ratio of 16:10 or 16:9.
This is how i would go about creating one. The major problem i see is stiching the images together to do blob analysis, with 4 camera’s its going to be pretty CPU intensive, could a Quad core processor handle it ?

Cheers
