Hey I have a question about the MTmini. I haven’t started the project yet, but I want to know how the basic controls work. Is there a way to change them? Because I would want to make them a little more customizable. Like a normal click would be a single tap, and the click would come on the release. And instead of when you press the finger and drag it, it act like the mouse action of clicking and dragging, it would just have the cursor follow your finger. No dragging. And to make something drag, you would like double tap and on the second tap, begin dragging. This is because with out it, I would have no idea of where the mouse is on the screen, without accidentally clicking something or dragging something. In other words, by default, is there any way to simply move the mouse without also clicking it. Thank you.

Hi! First of all I have to say that I’m Spanish and I don’t speak very good English, but I’ll try.

Then cangratulations because the work done here. I think that’s the future of interacting with computers and that’s a great way to get it.

Well, I’ve been using de touchlib and the mtmini but were problems because the light. Allway needed more light. My question is if is there a possibility of using another way to use de software. Could be possible to use a light instead of shadows and not using the window “invert” when configurating? My idea is to put de webcam looking to the screen (the TFT, for example) and using a light (a LED) move around the screen. When light is ON is like pushing the screen or a click with the mouse. Understood?

I don’t know if it is possible but it would be more easier to build and much easier in use, because interacting directly in the screen.

I’ve been looking in the forum and is too big to read with detail, but I haven’t see anything like this. Is similar to the infrared light but I think easier.

And sorry because my bad English again.

Thankyou

JonGA,
I think what you are saying about the LED light is similar to this: http://nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/3224/ . Am I correct?
It is a technique of its own; doesn’t fall into FTIR/DI, etc.

Cerupcat says in that thread:

It negates the need for FTIR or any other technique. This would be a “replacement” technique. If you wear lights on your finger and touch the screen, then where you touch is the point. No need for anything else.

Although, building a MTmini or any front DI approach is a quicker and easier prototype and works better and more like a final product will be.

hope this helps

Thank you for answering.

But, in the photo, looks like the lights in the fingers are always on. My idea is to turn on the light instead of the click, for example pushing the thumb finger agaist the index finger. The problem is that you can’t use all your fingers but with two lights (one in each hand) I think is enought to do most of the tasks. The MTmini is great, but I think is better to know where are you pushing with your fingers, as “III Icon III” said.

I don’t know anything about programming but, is there an easy possibility to eliminate the “invert” screen and use lights instead of shadows? If you can explain me how to do I would test my idea and, of course, show my conclusions here.

Thanks again.

JonGA: Touchlib and the forum is all about using light instead of shadows. To remove the invert filter all you have to do it open the config.xml in the package and delete the part where it says invert.
