Hey all… so I’m working with two other students on a project we call TouchABLE.

I’m attaching pics of my IR illuminator boards (we milled them out on a PCB mill). There is an RJ45 connector on them so the can be removed easily / changed around at will… there is also a hard wired connection. We decided to put one resister per LED as if one goes we don’t want a chain to go, nor do we want to supply over current to the others on that chain either.

As the title says the setup is a DI type, and we have only done tests on this size cabinet so far without the box, which is what we are doing now.

We haven’t faced it yet, but should have that done by tomorrow. Looking at the box, the glass sits out about 1/2” from the face of the box so it looks like its floating.

Parts list:
Projector: BenQ MP771 (amazing distance!)
Camera: Fire-i BW
Lens: 2.1mm (Wide) w/no ir filter (obviously)
LED: Osram SFH485 (would like to try the gold dragons tho)
RES: CFR-50JB-39R Yageo from digikey.com
Glass: VIKA GLASHOLM ~ Tempered coffee table glass from Ikea (150mm x 80mm)

Total cost including lumber so far: $1,969.01

Suggestions / comments welcome!

Very nice setup I must say!  Looking forward to seeing how the table responds. It’s always nice to see Massive Screens grin Keep up the good work!

looks nice

i have also made a di multitouch screen with a ikea frosted glass table, butwe ran in to some problems:
as a projection surface it is ok.
but as a diffuser for the ir light it might not diffuse inough..
i hope you dont have these problems, but however good luck
keep up the good work

Ok, you need to copy the address from the youtube page.

E.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ4OgH0vQqs

NOT http://www.youtube.com/v/GQ4OgH0vQqs

You need to link it to the youtube watch page not the actual video link. (from v/GQ4OgH0vQqs to watch?v=GQ4OgH0vQqs)

Wow, that looks really smooth.  How many illuminators did you need, and how big diagonal is your screen?

Great Works!

great job!

this BenQ has a really short throw!! holy smokes the projectorcentral calculator app says 1’ 1” for a 42” image!
How “deep” is your box (back > screen)

Could you post pics of your setup INSIDE, how the projector is positioned, any mirror(s), etc?

thank you
