Yup, they’ve made some great improvments. It’s not quite easy to make Flash Player 10 swfs yet though. Soon wink

Visual Performance Improvements – Applications and videos will run smoother and faster with expanded use of hardware acceleration.  By moving several visual processing tasks to the video card, the CPU is free to do more.

wouldn’t that help the multi touch flash apps? I mean as is no code changing.

Ive been playing around with flash 10 for the past few days, and its awesome, the new 3d support will allow for some cool multitouch apps, not to mention the new pixel blender filters which work like shaders and run on the gpu too. Im very impressed with what ive seen so far smile

Does this mean we can do eye candy effects such as ripples but without the CPU maxing out?

I’m guessing yes. Most of the visual stuff is processed by the GPU and frees up the CPU.

Yeah it’ll be interesting to see what happens. Putting some stuff on the GPU will actually slow down performance though. I’m interested to see if I can port over some of the current stuff to flash 10. Everything is still beta still so there will definitely be some bugs I’m assuming. I’ll try this weekend to get some stuff compiled as flash player 10 swf. I’ve heard some people are having trouble doing it reliably though.

Yeah, I compiled AudioTouch (my Audio OS) for flash 10. I really didn’t see any noticeable differences and had a new issue where the mouse wouldn’t work in full screen and sometimes it would freeze in full screen (once exited from full screen it would work again). I can’t confirm if this is a flash player 10 problem or not. It’s still beta so it might be. But, like I said, I didn’t see any performance gains, if anything my performance was worse.

Really cool cheese
That’s not cool. I thought it would be faster. What OS are you on XP or Vista?

I’m running on XP.

My ‘AudioTouch OS’ has a lot to it though. It’s probably be better to test a smaller application to see what happens. I’m really not sure what’s up with the mouse and freezing issue. Could be my application =\ but it didn’t ever happen in flash player 9.

im using Vista. That reminds me I saw a few bugs in your Audiotouch app. The keyboard would turn a reddish color and stay that way. It only happen one night and I could not get it to show that bug again. This was a month ago maybe.
