Hello,

I’ve been using this camera for a while now in my setup.
The camera has firewire interface and it has great IR sensitivity (tested at 850nm with IR bandpass filter). The original lens has an IR blocking filter but it is very easy to remove. The camera captures fully uncompressed video 640x480 at 30fps in Y800 (mono) format. So there is no need to use mono filter in touchlib.
The CPU usage during capture is very low and if you search on ebay you can get it for about $9 - $30.

Hope this helps…

This cam is no longer available in the market. Another other good 1394 cam suggestion??
I found ADS, but also stopped selling now. Seems cheap 1394 cams with good preformance of IR sensitivity cannot survive in the market.

Alex, I just bought a firewire cam alot like yours on ebay for $30 with shipping.  It’s not this same kind, but is very similar - no longer made http://www.ame-group.com/cf2000.htm (it was distributed under different names from different companies - one called Simple Solutions or something)

Yesterday, I saw an iBot firewire camera had a buy it now price of $110.00

2 questions:
-Can you give any details on how you removed the IR filter (i’ve removed one from a M$ LifeCam vx-1000)?
-Where did you get your IR bandpass filter?
