DI IR Problem

Im still testing different setups, but the problem I am seeing most in my DI setup is that when I point the IR led at the glass surface, it appears to blind that section of the screen IE if I touch the glass in front of an LED it cannot be seen (with or without bg removal).

what I have tried to do so far is space my LEDs (40 degree) 7” apart so the spread is even along the front in the end. but its blinded it self.

Do I need to change my glass??

Thanks

Sounds like you need a diffuser in front of the LEDs.
Frosted plexi, tracing paper, something to scatter the IR light.

another method i would suggest is reducing the webcam exposure manually to reduce the glare

Would that not also make your blobs less visible? I mean, the glare is probably even brighter than the blobs, right? (not so much experience with DI yet here, mostly working with FTIR)

The problem here is your not using a diffuser , that’s why it’s called DI(Diffused iliumination).
Just place a piece of tracing paper (a.k.a sketch paper) under or above the glass(above usualy gets better results) and that should solve your problem.
What kind of leds are you using? How many ?

I have a DI set up. What I have been doing is using paper under the Plexiglas. I have no problems this way with hot spots.
