Has anyone seen or tried this? I was looking for different online acrylic sellers and one of their “enhanced” acrylic sheets is called “Infrared transmitting (IRT) sheet.” It blocks out visible light, and allows IR to travel through. Has anyone else heard or know about this type of acrylic sheet? Here’s the link http://www.ridoutplastics.com/enacsheet.html There’s no prices, and I’m sure it costs a fortune.

Added: After thinking about it, I guess this wouldn’t work well using a projector since it won’t allow the projector to shine on it, or at least I don’t think it would.

nope, never heard of it, but now you mention it about not letting through the image of the projector, that makes sense

I guess it would work for a top down projection. Since it’s made to bounce IR light around, it seems it would be more effective then regular acrylic.

I guess the existence of this stuff lends a touch of credence to my constant warnings that people check the manufacturer’s designed IR transmission characteristics of their acrylic eh? This stuff is special, but it serves to exemplify the facts that visible and IR behavior are often manipulated separately in plastics manufacturing.
