Hi downloaded the .rar files by AlexP fixes/optimization. Each one of them have atleast one corrupted DLL, is that how its suppose to be? Its like this:

Part 1 has cv100.dll as 0 bytes
Part 2 has cxts001.dll and touchlib.dll as 0 bytes
Part 3 has touchlib.dll as 0 bytes

What am I missing?

GeoMan,

The reason I had to split my upload into three files is because of the file attachment size limit.
The only file you’ll need to extract is TouchLib.part1.rar. For this, you can use programs such as WinRar.

The shutter speed will definitely dictate your camera’s target frame rate. And yes, the laser setup will give you brighter blobs that will allow for faster capture frame rates. Let us know how the IR lasers work with your setup.

~Alex

I hope so smile I’ll let you know when i receive the laser and set things setup..
What kind of screen/diffuser do you use ? and is it on the back or front of your acryl?

I don’t think you’d need a diffuser with LLP.What would you have to diffuse?

I used a sheet of velum (drafting paper) on the back of the acrylic. The reason why I didn’t put it at the ‘touch’ side of the acrylic is that it would interfere with the laser light plane. Of course this could be fixed by moving the light plane a few mm off the acrylic. In this case you’d have a blob response before you touch the surface and I didn’t want that to happen.

Progen,

I installed directshow drivers that came with Firefly camera (didn’t install any special driver that work with their sdk).
This way I can open a camera in graphedit and play/test the settings.
I used DSVideoLib for my capture filter and everything worked good.

Hey Alex,

Well I’m going to start ordering some parts to start my own 850nm IR lasers this weekend unless you’re able to get back to my PMs about buying some of yours.

I’ll start with the Thorslabs 10mW 850nm IR diode or the USLasers 5mW 850nm diode from Digikey and try and gather some power components and housing units for them.

Just out of curioisty where did you get the housings and lenses for the lasers and how did you mount the lens to the housing?

Thanks Alex, yep I already have ‘em unzipped but was wondering about all three parts. I’ll get working with the part1 only then.

Cheers....

Hi Alex,

Just to confirm, you installed the Flystream option that supports DirectShow when you popped in the PtGrey CD?  Coz from what i know, the only DirectShow driver that comes with the FireFly is the FlyStream.  I did that but it doesn’t run on my pc coz i am running Vista coz according to ptgrey the DirectShow drivers are not supported on Vista (http://www.ptgrey.com/support/kb/index.asp?a=4&q=258&ST=directshow).  R u running XP?

Btw, here are some other links regarding FireflyMVs and the DirectShow drivers:

Yes, I selected FlyStream option. and yes I am running Window XP at the moment. Unless you are running Vista 64, you should not have any issues with installing FlyStream driver. I might be wrong, but most of the DirectShow driver should work fine when upgrading from XP to Vista (32bit). from what I found there may be minor differences in the driver’s inf file, but that is easily fixable using the notepad.

As a remark, PointGrey is currently working on an x64 version of FlyStream. It’s not out yet, and it has an annoying bug of not working on systems with 4 GB or more of RAM.

I’m running Vista 32bit but it still does not work.  Anyone here tried successfully to install the PtGrey’s Flystream on a Vista 32bit OS?  How would i go about modifying the PGRStrm.inf so it would install on my Vista?

Hey Progen,

Take a look here.
From the OS compatibility chart I included below, it seems that FlyStream will work with Vista (32bit) SP1.
So may I suggest that you update your Vista to SP1.

Sorry… My bad… I guess I was looking at Windows XP SP1 there…
Their info must be outdated. XP is already at SP3.
Do you have Vista SP1 installed?
