The title of the thread says it all.

I have searched and read at least three different versions of what files to launch first to run the SWF demos.
Which one is correct?

I can’t get any SWF files to run on my desktop quad core machine.
My laptop however, will open ripples, but nothing happens even though I have OSC and flosc running.

I have Flash player 9
Security settings for files are all set. They should run.
I have Java installed. All setting as they should be.

Still no run.

I have a table with good blob tracking. It’s stable. Smoke demo works fine, mousedriver works great…

When I open SWF files, I get a windows dialogue box asking me to search the web for the program to launch the file, even though I have Flash player 9 installed.

Everything is updated

Advice anyone??

It should be

1) OSC.exe
2) FLOSC.jar
3) SWF

Have you tried right clicking the SWF going to open with… and browsing to the flash player executable?

Next I would recommend to completely uninstall Flash Player and re-install it.

Also if you convert the swf to a projector exe from with flash player it will make sure you are able to run it with the need for security settings… to do this its as simple as opening the flie in flash player and then going into File --> Create Projector.

Thanks for the replies!

I did some more searching and even though Flash Player shows up in my add/remove programs list, I CANNOT find the .exe file. I have searched the entire drive in every way and it’s just not there.

So, I’ve run the uninstall and then reinstall, and I still have no .exe file.
WTF??

I’m at a total loos of what to do next, other than call up Adobe support.. oh boy won’t that be fun!

...just slightly frustrated here… The table construction and setup was EASY compared to this mess.

Can someone thell me what the path to the Flash Player .exe file is on your working computer?? Please? At least then I’ll know where it should be located.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr smile

OK WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a PLUG-IN!!!

DUH!!

So… I tried using Internet Explorer as the default .exe to open SWF files and lo and behold, they open!!

Yay! NOW I hope I can get down to some serious fun and development of some Flash apps!

I say hope, because I still haven’t tried to actually run any demos in Explorer on the table yet. I’m about to set it up on my faster, better desktop computer and give it a try.

I’ll report back later.

BUT FIRST, a trip to the beach with the dogs is needed! It’s Sunday morning on Maui!! smile

I would download the flash standalone player. Usually things will run slower in the browser vs. the standalone player.

Well the beach was nice… smile

OK I tried the above on the laptop setup. (hey it’s already up and running so why not)

I started OSC
Then Flosc V2 (flosc did nothig) clicked start.

Opened SWF in explorer, set explorer active x controls

Touch Listener shows blobs, but nothing is happening in flash window and some pics aren’t loading. No pictures in PICTURE no keyboard in KEYBOARD no color bar in PAINT. *sigh*

I think it’s time to try the desktop computer and not even bother with my laptop.

When you load in the browser, you still need to set the security settings for browser use which is another reason I’d recommend the standalone flashplayer.

Thanks for moving the thread BTW.

hey Tinkerman, you can download the full standalone flash player from here, if you still require it. http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/flash.html

It’s working!
I have Flashplayer9 plug-in running in IE7 with all the settings for flash dialed in for TouchLib. It scales properly if I run it in full screen mode, but I can tell that it would be better in a stand alone player.
You’ll notice in Ripples there are no rocks showing. hmmmmm ?

By the way, I looked, and I cannot find Flash9 as a standalone. If there is a download link please post it here.
I guess I should just purchase a copy of Flash since I plan on building some apps.

Thanks for the help!

Hey looking AWESOME!!! smile

Yea make sure to run in standalone… in browser is slower.

GO DOWNLOAD THIS: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/9/sa_flashplayer_9_debug.exe

Put this EXE on your desktop then drag SWF ontop of the new EXE
