Hello everyone.  So, this may have been discussed before but I can’t see it.  Is there any way to hook up 2 or 4 cameras to Touchlib?  I want to test a large screen without having a huge depth, so 2 or 4 cameras would be perfect.  Can this be done?

A.

It probably could be done, but it would involve a whole new capture software rewrite.

You could try modding the camera with a wide angle lens.

Currently, without modifications, no touchlib does not support multiple cameras.

The next release will/should have some basic multi-cam functionality wink

I love you. :D

We’re going to try the Firefly cam next, but at some point I’m going to build a HUGE table which will be super THIN and use COUNTLESS cameras.

Yes, I’ve not slept properly in months and yes, I just lost it. smile

Look into the FireflyMV’s daisy-chaining capability. It should be your best bet.

Maybe you could have Touchlib to detect the daisy-chain as one huge camera feed (PtGrey drivers should take care of the stitching).

Not sure if it would work without any modifications, but you might get away with minor changes to current Touchlib.

OK, you’ve answered my other question about which cam.  Firefly it seems to be.

This sounds like a great idea. How big do you plan on going? 8x4 ? or BIGGER

I’m not sure that daisy-chaining FireFly’s let them come up as one image. I think it’s similar to the fire-i which you can also daisy-chain. It only daisy-chains them so they can power eachother. There images aren’t combined and there’s no stitching of images. Keep in mind that even if touchlib supported or when the new one does support multi-cams, it’s still going to be very difficult getting them working together. It’s not matter of just palcing them side-by-side nor the lack of CPU power.

Yeah, nothing i ever that easy.

justin, we are using tempered glass made to our specs, cheaper than plexi and much prettier.

You’re probably right cerupcat, but one thing I believe the daisy-chaining of the Firelfy does is shutter syncing, which should by itself make things a lot easier.

But I agree that placing them together and making them work as one is a whole other matter.
